Nepal’s Foreign Minister said – every dispute will be resolved through open dialogue with India
New Delhi. Nepal Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal on Sunday said the resolution of the pending border dispute between India and Nepal is possible only through diplomacy, mutual trust and positive dialogue. He said that when both the countries sit at the negotiating table with open hearts and clear thinking, no dispute is so big that it cannot be resolved. He stressed that the new government of Nepal wants to take forward relations with India with new energy and comprehensive cooperation.

A day after extensive bilateral talks with Jaishankar, Khanal told reporters that Nepal no longer sees India from the narrow and highly sensitive perspective of 21st century geopolitics. His government aims to strengthen mutually beneficial relations keeping in mind the common interests of the two countries, economic development and regional prosperity. He said that instead of adopting an emotional or ultra-nationalist stance on border issues, it would be more effective to find solutions based on facts, dialogue and mutual understanding.
Khanal also praised India’s rapid economic progress and growing technological capability globally. He said that today India is among the fast emerging economic and technological superpowers of the world and Nepal wants to become an active partner in this development journey.
He said that there is immense potential for cooperation between the two countries in the fields of trade, investment, energy, connectivity, tourism and modern technology. Nepal’s priority is to achieve its economic transformation and for this, a transparent, trustworthy and long-term partnership with India will be strengthened.
