As informed by the temple authorities, lightning struck the shrine at around 4.30 PM as gusty winds and rain lashed the city as predicted by the weather department
The impact of the lightning strike was so severe that it damaged a portion of the Dadhinauti, the ornamental crown-like structure atop the temple. Following this, a piece of stone and an iron clamp breaking away fell from the pinnacle.
Though the incident triggered panic among the people present near the shrine, none was injured due to the incident.
The thunderstorm activity accompanied with strong winds also damaged several trees and electric poles in different parts of the city. Electricity supply was disrupted prompting the firefighters along with other local administration to bring situation into normal.
