Trump crowns Brunson and Towns: “The Knicks are fantastic, a championship-caliber group”
Donald Trump has decided that he will be sitting courtside at Madison Square Garden on Monday night for Game 3 of the NBA Finals. A lifelong New Yorker and Knicks fan, the President of the United States accepted a personal invitation from franchise owner James Dolan and is preparing to watch New York’s return to the championship stage after a 27-year absence.
The Knicks, after all, are now just two wins away from an NBA title, and Trump was particularly impressed by the two victories that allowed Mike Brown’s team to steal home-court advantage from the San Antonio Spurs.
I’m going to be at Game 3. The start of the series has been incredible. I think the Knicks have a fantastic team based on the way they’ve played. They started slowly and just kept getting stronger. Wemby looks like he’s going to be a great player, but they’ve really played well

Following the wins in Game 1 and Game 2, both Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns earned high praise from President Trump.
Brunson is fantastic, Towns is fantastic. They simply have a great group

Beyond the action on the court, one of the biggest topics in New York has been the soaring ticket prices at Madison Square Garden. For Game 3, prices are approaching $10,000with the most exclusive seats commanding astronomical figures. Many fans have voiced their frustration, but Trump dismissed the issue with his trademark pragmatism.
They can watch it on television. On TV it’s almost free. That’s just the way life works

Regardless of how the series ultimately ends, the President’s presence courtside for the Knicks’ first home Finals game will inevitably draw the attention of media outlets around the world.
For a franchise that struggled to remain competitive just a few years ago, receiving the White House’s endorsement is perhaps the ultimate sign of how special this group has become.
