LPG Price: Government’s big claim on LPG! LPG cylinder is available in India at the cheapest prices in the world.
Current LPG Price India: The Petroleum Ministry of the Government of India has clarified that gas cylinders are much cheaper in our country as compared to other countries. Domestic gas prices are much lower than those of developed countries like the US, Australia and Canada as well as our neighboring countries. The government is continuously taking steps to provide relief to the citizens of the country from inflation.
At present the supply cost of an LPG cylinder has exceeded Rs 1600. Despite this, this fuel is being made available to the common consumers at a very low price. Common consumers can buy it in Delhi for Rs 942 and any family can easily get gas as per their need.
Ujjwala Scheme and Direct Gas Subsidy
The government is providing special financial relief to the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. These families effectively get a 14.2 kg gas cylinder for only Rs 642. Under this scheme, a direct subsidy of Rs 300 is given on the first four refills every year, which greatly benefits poor families.
Non-Ujjwala ordinary families also get full benefit of this government assistance. Gas cylinders are also available to these families at about Rs 700 less than the actual market cost. There may be a slight difference in cylinder prices due to local delivery costs at different places, but the relief is on.
Commercial gas and international prices
To protect domestic consumers from the direct impact of the global market, domestic gas cylinder prices are not changed every month. At the same time, the price of commercial gas cylinders used in hotels and businesses varies according to the international market. India imports 60 percent of its total LPG requirement.

The price of this imported LPG from India depends on the Saudi contract price, which is decided by Saudi Arabia at the beginning of every month. Before the global crisis in February, the price of LPG was around $ 543 per tonne. The supply situation changed significantly after the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
In April, this international price had increased to $ 775 per tonne. After this, in June this price increased further to about $ 790 per tonne. In this way, the international benchmark has increased by about 46 percent compared to February, due to which the cost of imported LPG has increased.
