Famous Malayalam actor Salim Kumar dies at the age of 56

New Delhi. Famous actor Salim Kumar has passed away. He was only 56 years old. His departure from the world is a big shock for the Malayalam film industry. The actor was not well for some time. After his health deteriorated on Saturday, he was admitted to a private hospital in Kochi. He was kept on ventilator support.

Salim Kumar received the National Film Award for Best Actor in 2010 for the critically acclaimed film ‘Adaminte Makan Abu’. He was also awarded the Kerala State Film Award four times. His son Chandu Salim Kumar is also an actor.

    Salim was primarily a comedy actor and worked in some of the biggest comedy blockbusters of Malayalam. Even today, Malayali people often use his comedy dialogues in their daily conversations.

    Salim Kumar also did drama and mimicry before coming into films. After this, he started his film career in 1997. He was known for playing various comedy and character roles in Malayalam cinema.

    Actor Salim’s films like CID Moosa, Pulival Kalyanam were huge hits. His films also reached the audiences of North India through Hindi dubbing, YouTube and TV. In Achanurangatha Veedu, he came out of the image of a comedy actor and showed strong acting.

    Salim Kumar was a vocal supporter of the Congress party and despite ill health, he actively campaigned for the Congress-led UDF in the last assembly elections. He was seen with its leaders on several occasions and also criticized the LDF leadership.
