Suriya’s ‘Kahar’ at the box office, even Ram Charan’s ‘Peddi’ could not stop the pace of ‘Karuppu’, record breaking earnings on Sunday
South cinema’s veteran superstar Suriya’s most awaited film ‘Karuppu’ is not showing any signs of slowing down at the box office. Today, 24 days have passed since its release in theatres, but the craze about this film among the audience remains the same as the first day. Before this film, which hit the big screens on May 14, there were many new and big films at the box office, but Surya’s film has continued to print crores of rupees at the box office, beating everyone else. Now big films like global star Ram Charan’s ‘Peddi’ and Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan’s ‘Hai Jawaani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ are standing as a challenge in front of this film, but despite this, ‘Karuppu’ has done such wonders at the box office on Sunday that even the trade analysts have been surprised.
‘Karuppu’ returns to form amidst tough competition, Surya’s name echoes at the box office
On the basis of great response and excellent reviews from film critics and audiences, ‘Karuppu’ has come very close to being included in the list of the biggest blockbuster films of Surya’s career. However, due to the release of Ram Charan’s film ‘Peddi’, there was a slight break in the earning pace of ‘Karuppu’, but in the fourth weekend, the film has once again made a great comeback. From ‘Bhoot Bangla’ to ‘Peddi’ and ‘Drishyam’, Surya’s film clashed with these 5 big films.
The box office journey of ‘Karuppu’ has been thorny as it has faced major clashes since the time of its release. When the film was released on May 14, it was facing a big challenge from Akshay Kumar’s horror-comedy ‘Bhoot Bangla’ and Riteish Deshmukh’s historical film ‘Raja Shivaji’. After this, Malayalam superstar Mohanlal’s suspense thriller ‘Drishyam’ was also released at the box office. At the same time, along with Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor’s ‘Peddi’, Varun Dhawan’s love story ‘Hai Jawaani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ is also competing at the box office. Surya’s film standing firm even amidst such dangerous competition is a big record in itself.
What is the story of ‘Karuppu’ that forced the audience to come to the theatre?
If we talk about the story of the film, ‘Karuppu’ is a great Tamil fantasy action drama film, directed by famous director RJ Balaji. Lady superstar Trisha Krishnan is seen in the lead role with Suriya in the film. The basic story of the film revolves around the police system and justice system of our country. It shows how the corrupt government system and the influential and powerful people of the society together exploit the poor and helpless people, and how Surya’s character stands as a messiah against this injustice. The film’s strong script and Suriya’s tremendous acting have made it one of the most successful films of this year.
