Sound of great destruction, earth trembled due to massive earthquake of 8.2 magnitude early in the morning, sea spewing fire in many countries

At present, a very scary and ferocious form of nature is being seen in Asian countries. The powerful earthquakes coming one after the other have completely shaken many countries. After the earthquake that hit Bhutan and the north-eastern states of India late on Sunday night, now very scary news is coming out from the South-East Asian country Philippines early on Monday morning. Such strong and devastating earthquake tremors were felt in many parts of the Philippines this morning that people ran out of their homes screaming. The intensity of this great earthquake has been measured at a very dangerous 8.2 on the Richter scale, immediately after which there is a great danger of flood or tsunami in the coastal countries of the Pacific Ocean.

The epicenter of the earthquake was near Mindanao island, the earth shook till Indonesia-Japan

According to a joint report by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) and the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ), this massive earthquake occurred at 7:40 am local time. The main epicenter of this great earthquake was underground near the island of Mindanao in the Philippines. The intensity of the earthquake was so terrible that its impact was not limited only to the Philippines, but its tremors were also clearly felt in many parts of Japan including North Sulawesi and North Maluku provinces of neighboring Indonesia.

Warning of 3 meter high tsunami waves in coastal areas, people running to higher places

Immediately after this devastating earthquake of 8.2 magnitude, the Seismological Agency of the Philippines has issued a high alert of emergency tsunami for all coastal and low-lying areas of the southern provinces of the country. The administration has given strict instructions to lakhs of people living on the seashore to immediately vacate their homes and take shelter in high hilly places and safe bunkers. Scientists estimate that destructive tsunami waves more than 3 meters (about 10 feet) high can arise in the sea. Apart from the Philippines, a heavy alert of tsunami waves has also been issued in Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan, Guam, Papua New Guinea and many island countries of the Western Pacific Ocean.

The most powerful earthquake in history, cracks appeared in skyscrapers and people became unconscious

According to a ground report by South China Morning Post, Police Chief of Alabel city of Philippines Benji Ancheta said that the earthquake tremors were so scary that many big and multi-storey buildings in the city have developed deep cracks. The police chief said in a frightened tone that "This is the most powerful and scariest earthquake we have ever experienced in our lifetime." The good thing is that at present there has been no official confirmation of anyone being killed, but due to the fear and shock of the strong tremors, many people became unconscious on the streets, who have been admitted to nearby hospitals. Disaster management teams are busy assessing the damage.

After all, why do so many earthquakes occur in the Philippines? Know what is ‘Ring of Fire’

On the world map, Philippines is considered to be the most sensitive and dangerous country in terms of natural disasters. According to geographical science, this entire country is located just above the extremely turbulent ‘Ring of Fire’ region of the Pacific Ocean. In this region, the tectonic plates present inside the earth keep colliding with each other, due to which the world’s highest number of earthquakes occurs here. Apart from this, dozens of active volcanoes are also present in this belt which erupt anytime. This is why the Philippines has to face more than 20 devastating storms, cyclones and earthquakes every year.
