According to reports, this incident took place due to a land dispute. The father of both the brothers, late Nathu Bhagat, had purchased 24 kattas of land along the Dumariya-Mahadi main road with his earnings. A large part of this land i.e. about 16 katthas was given by his father.
It was in the name of disabled son Krishna Pal, while 8 kattha land was in the share of younger son Surajmal. Krishna Pal was disabled since birth and was not even married. He was dependent on his younger brother and his family for his care and treatment. Family members say that Krishna was often ill and sought help from his brother in his treatment. He used to say that if you don’t take care of me, I will sell my share of the land and get myself treated. Apart from this, he was also talking about giving some of his land to his two sisters, Munni Devi and Chunni Devi.

Land worth crores on the side of the main road became the cause of dispute. According to the information received from the villagers and the victim’s family, the father of the two brothers (late Nathu Bhagat) had purchased 24 Katthas of valuable land on the side of the Dumariya-Mahadi main road with his hard-earned money. The father had given a major part of this land i.e. 16 katha land in the name of his disabled son Krishna Pal, while 8 katha land was in the share of younger son Surajmal Pal. Krishna Pal was disabled since birth and was not married, due to which he was dependent on his younger brother and his family for his care and treatment. Due to the fear of losing land worth crores, accused Surajmal Pal lost his temper at around 8 pm on Sunday night and fatally attacked the disabled brother’s head and several parts of his body with an axe.

As soon as information about the incident was received, the local police immediately reached the spot and, showing humanity, provided financial help of ₹ 5,000 for the treatment of blood-soaked Krishna Pal and the villagers also collected donations among themselves. Also, Krishna, who was seriously injured, was immediately taken to Magadha Medical College Hospital, Gaya, but he died on the way due to deep internal injuries. Today i.e. on Monday, the post-mortem of the deceased was conducted in the same hospital, where the sisters were in bad condition due to crying. According to the report of Dainik Bhaskar, Bodhibigha police station in-charge Priyanandan Alok has said that the police has taken this matter very seriously. However, no written complaint has been received from the family members yet. Nevertheless, the police have taken suo motu cognizance and started investigating the matter.
