Amidst the tension in the Strait of Hormuz, a new news has emerged which is worrying for India. An oil tanker carrying an Indian sailor has reportedly caught fire near Oman. There were 24 Indians on board the tanker at the time of the incident.
According to a Shipping Ministry official, all 24 Indian-origin sailors are completely safe. The official said the Madagascar-flagged tanker ‘Marivex’ I caught fire.

Giving information about the incident, Opesh Kumar Sharma, Director of Federal Ports and Shipping of the Shipping Ministry, said that the fire broke out in the tanker at 1:30 pm local time. There was no cargo on board the ship at the time of the incident. At present, the clear reason for the fire in the tanker is not yet known. All 24 Indian sailors on board the ship are safe. Also, coordination is being established by the Ministry of External Affairs with Indian Embassies abroad, Indian Navy and Defense Ministry. At present, the Ministry is continuously monitoring the situation.

Engine room damaged
According to media sources, the incident occurred about 15 nautical miles off the Oman coast. The engine room was hit by a sudden massive explosion in the ship. The massive explosion caused a massive fire on the ship. This created panic in the entire area.
According to the information, the explosion in the ship was so powerful that a big hole was created in the engine room of the ship. Due to this the balance of the ship got disturbed. Considering the seriousness of the situation, the crew sent an emergency message.

ITF released report
ITF (International Transport Workers’ Federation) presented data on accidents on sea vessels. According to these figures, the year 2025 was the worst year ever in matters of maritime ship safety. According to the report, about 6,233 sailors from about 410 ships have been affected during this period. Most of them are sailors of Indian origin.
