Singapore to offer 2,500 public housing flats with 3 years of waiting time
The flats, spread across three projects in Sembawang and Ang Mo Kio in the north and north-central areas of the city-state, will account for more than a third of the roughly 6,900 flats to be launched.
Two projects in Sembawang will have waiting times of up to two years and nine months, the Housing and Development Board (HDB), which develops and manages Singapore’s public housing projects, said in a media release on Sunday.
Sembawang Portico will have three residential blocks with 875 units. Sembawang Brook will comprise five residential blocks with 1,160 units.

At the two projects, which are adjacent to each other, residents can expect earlier access to amenities such as cooked food, childcare centers, a minimart and bus services.
HDB said these amenities will be operational about six months after the first batch of residents collect their keys.
The third project, Kebun Baru Ridge, will comprise three residential blocks with 485 units. It will have a wait time of three years and one month.
Residents will have easy access to public transport nodes, with Mayflower MRT station on the Thomson-East Coast Line just a short bus ride away.

“To offer flats with shorter wait times, HDB works closely with other government agencies in early planning to identify and prioritise project sites available earlier,” HDB said.
“This enables us to bring forward the design and planning process so that construction can commence even before the project is launched for sale. By the time flat applicants book a unit in such projects, construction would be well underway.”
Apart from the three projects, four other projects will be offered in HDB’s June sales exercise. HDB said more details on the projects, including their classification categories, will be released when the sales exercise begins.
