Increased stir within TMC in Delhi: Rebel MPs meet Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav, speculations of a major rift in Mamata Banerjee’s party intensify.
After the West Bengal Assembly elections, political turmoil within the Trinamool Congress (TMC) seems to be increasing continuously. On Monday, TMC got a big shock when senior leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sukhendu Shekhar Roy Resigned his Rajya Sabha membership as well as the primary membership of the party.
His resignation came at a time when the party chief Mamata Banerjee Had come to Delhi to participate in the meeting of INDIA alliance of opposition parties. Sukhendu Shekhar Roy has been counted among the prominent faces of the party for a long time, hence his resignation is being considered politically important.

Although official information regarding the agenda of the meeting has not been revealed, this meeting has further intensified political speculations.
Political analysts believe that after the West Bengal Assembly elections, dissatisfaction has increased within the party regarding leadership and organizational issues. There have also been signs of public expression of displeasure by many leaders and MPs from time to time.
The resignation of Sukhendu Shekhar Roy has made this dissatisfaction more clear.
Opposition leader and former TMC leader in West Bengal Ritabrata Banerjee Said that the issues raised by Sukhendu Shekhar Roy are serious and his concerns regarding the functioning of Parliament are justified.
He indicated that in the coming time, other leaders may also make their displeasure public.
At present, out of total 17 Rajya Sabha seats from West Bengal, 13 seats are with Trinamool Congress, while 3 seats are in the account of Bharatiya Janata Party.
According to political discussions, if dissatisfaction increases within the party, its effect can be seen in Parliament also. Recently, Sukhendu Shekhar Roy had also indicated that some other MPs of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha may also take important decisions in the coming times.
At present, there has been no detailed official reaction from Trinamool Congress on these developments. But the meetings held in Delhi and the resignations of senior leaders have given a new direction to the politics of West Bengal.
In the coming days, it will become clear whether this dissatisfaction is limited to personal resentment only or it is the beginning of some major political change within the party.
