Now no entry of CBI in Bengal ends, decision of Bengal government

Kolkata : With the change of power in West Bengal, Shubhendu government is taking one big decision after another. The state government has also taken a big decision regarding the CBI investigation. The West Bengal government has given complete freedom to the CBI to investigate in the state. According to the notification issued by the Department of Home and Affairs on June 8, 2026, under the Delhi Special Police Establishment (DSPE) Act 1946, the CBI has been allowed to investigate central government employees, Central Public Undertakings (PSU) employees and matters related to them in the state. The simple meaning of this notification is that the West Bengal government has again given general consent to the CBI to investigate some cases in the state, but this exemption is not completely unconditional. This officer has been given under Section 6 of the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act 1946. The notification is coming into effect with immediate effect from June 8, 2026.

Which cases will CBI be able to investigate?

After this decision, CBI can now investigate cases related to central government employees. Along with this, the agency will also investigate cases related to employees of Central Public Sector Undertakings. If the person is accused of committing a crime in collaboration with central employees or employees of central undertakings, then investigation can also be done against them.

Which cases will CBI not be able to investigate?

CBI cannot directly investigate in the cases of state government employees under the control of West Bengal Government, in such cases CBI will have to first obtain written permission from the state government. Even though CBI will have to take permission from the state government for cases, this big decision of West Bengal should be welcomed.
