A prisoner lodged in Faridabad’s Neemka jail committed suicide, dead body found hanging in the bathroom.

Haryana: Neemka District Jail of Faridabad has once again come into discussion. There was a stir inside the jail early Monday due to the death of a prisoner. In the initial investigation the case is being said to be a suicide. The deceased has been identified as Hrithik alias Rankit Bhadana, 25, resident of Ghazipur, who was in jail for the last 11 months in various cases. After the incident, the jail administration, police and local officials have started investigating the matter. According to the information, about 16 cases including assault, attempt to murder and other criminal cases were registered against Hrithik alias Rankit.

Hrithik was not well for some days, due to which he was admitted to the hospital in the jail premises. It is being told that sometime between late Sunday night and Monday morning, he committed suicide by hanging himself in the bathroom of the hospital. When the staff on duty did not see him on his bed, a search was started. During the search, he was found hanging in the bathroom of the hospital. The jail staff immediately informed senior officials. After this the jail administration reached the spot and necessary action was initiated.

Officers arrived as soon as the information was received

As soon as information about the incident was received, the jail officials reached the spot and started investigating the entire matter. Later the police were also informed. Police took the body into custody and sent it to Badshah Khan Civil Hospital for post-mortem. Officials say that the entire situation regarding the cause of death will be clear only after the post-mortem report and investigation. At present the investigation is being done keeping all the aspects in mind.

Family members made serious allegations

The family of the deceased has raised many questions on this incident. Hrithik’s brother Rajesh alleged that his brother was facing mental and physical pressure inside the jail. He claims that he was mistreated by some officials of the jail administration. Family members say that he was troubled due to constant pressure and harassment, due to which he took this step. The family has demanded an impartial investigation into the matter so that the truth can come out.

Jail administration called the allegations baseless

On the other hand, the jail administration has termed the allegations made by the family as false. Jail officials say that all prisoners are treated equally as per the rules. The jail administration claims that Hrithik was under mental stress for some time and was also undergoing treatment. Officials said that further action will be taken on the basis of whatever facts emerge in the investigation of the case.

Neemka jail has been in controversies before also

Neemka District Jail has been in the news for some time due to various incidents. In February 2026, a terrorist accused lodged in a high security ward was murdered by another inmate. After that incident, questions were raised on the functioning of the jail administration and action was also taken against many officials. Apart from this, in March 2026, the dispute between two prisoners inside the jail had escalated so much that one prisoner threw boiling oil on the other. A prisoner was seriously injured in this incident. Even in the year 2025, an undertrial prisoner died under suspicious circumstances. At that time the family members had alleged negligence in the medical facilities.
