Nikhil Chaudhary Included in Australia Squad for Bangladesh T20Is

The Indian all-rounder Nikhil Chaudhary has earned a maiden call-up for the Australia Squad for the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh.

The 30-year old spinner currently plays for Tasmania and Hobart Hurricanes. Having moved from India during Covid-19 pandemic, Chaudhary has established himself as a notable success in Australian cricket.

Nikhil has been a player of national interest for some time. He was standby player for this tour, and the panel has been impressed by his BBL form, particularly last season, leading to his addition to the squad,” said selector Tony Dodemaide.

“Nikhil will gain invaluable experience in Bangladesh and will be in contention to play his first game for Australia when we sit down to pick a team for the opening T20 fixture here next week.”

Nikhil Choudhary played a domestic cricket for Punjab from 2017 to 2019. He also played a key role in the Hurricanes’ BBL title winning campaign in 2024-25, which grabbed attention from national selectors.

Several players like Joel Davies, Tim David, Spencer Johnson, Josh Phillippe and Aaron Hardie will be featuring in the T20I series of the Australia tour of Bangladesh 2026.

Selectors are hopeful captain Mitchell Marsh will recover from an ankle injury to participate in the series after missing recent ODI matches against Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Bangladesh secured a 2-0 win in the ongoing ODI series and will be aiming for whitewash against Australia.

Following the ODI series, the T20I series will begin on June 17 at Bir Shrestha Shahid Flight Lieutenant Motiur Rahman Cricket Stadium, Chattogram.
