Abhishek Banerjee had moved the Calcutta High Court against the CID investigation. During the hearing in Calcutta High Court, West Bengal CID said that it is necessary to arrest Abhishek Banerjee and interrogate him. On behalf of CID, Calcutta High Court was told that it has not received the original document of the proposal related to the Leader of Opposition. This matter is about making Shobhandev Chatterjee the leader of opposition in the West Bengal Assembly. Mamta Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek had sent a letter to the Assembly Speaker citing the proposal to make Shobhandev the leader of opposition. Along with which there was also a document and proposal signed by TMC MLAs.

TMC MLAs Ritabrata Banerjee and Sandipan Saha then complained to the West Bengal Assembly Speaker that no such proposal was passed in the TMC meeting on May 6. Both of them also alleged fake signatures of many TMC MLAs. On this, the Assembly Secretariat lodged an FIR at Hare Street police station in Kolkata. After which the case was handed over to West Bengal CID. Abhishek Banerjee himself had sent the letter to the Assembly Speaker. Because of which Mamata Banerjee’s MP nephew has come under the scanner of the case. CID will not be able to arrest Abhishek for the next 21 days, but it has definitely become difficult for the number two leader of TMC.
