Iran hits back at Trump’s claim of ‘big deal’, US also raises issue of death of Indian sailors
Washington/Tehran. The stir in global politics has once again intensified regarding the possible agreement between America and Iran. US President Donald Trump has claimed that an important agreement between the two countries is in the final stages and can be signed soon. However, Iran has completely rejected this claim and clarified that no final agreement has been reached yet.
Meanwhile, the attack on a commercial ship near the coast of Oman and the impact of Indian sailors in it has made this entire incident more sensitive. Iran has raised questions on America’s policies regarding this incident, while India has also expressed concern and is keeping an eye on the situation.
Iran expressed disagreement on the agreement-
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghai said reports of any final agreement with the US are mere speculation. He said that during the talks, drafts have been prepared on many issues, but the American side has been continuously changing its stance. Iran made it clear that it will not compromise on its national interests and the defined “red lines”.
Baghai also said that Qatar and Pakistan are trying to carry forward the talks as mediators, but recent US steps are hampering diplomatic efforts.
Trump’s big claim-
President Donald Trump said that such an agreement has been prepared between America and Iran, which can prove important towards ending the years-old tension. According to him, under the agreement Iran will not develop nuclear weapons in the future.
Trump also claimed that after the agreement, the Strait of Hormuz will remain completely safe and open, which will provide relief to global oil supply and international trade. However, Iran’s latest statement has raised many questions on these claims.
Increased concern regarding the Strait of Hormuz-
Iran says the security of the Strait of Hormuz has been affected due to increasing military tensions in the region. This sea route is considered one of the most important energy corridors in the world, through which a large part of the global oil supply passes.
Ismail Baghai warned that if tensions in the region do not subside, its impact will not be limited to the Middle East only, but global energy markets and maritime trade may also be affected.
The issue of Indian sailors became a new controversy-
Iran has criticized the US over the attack on a commercial ship off the coast of Oman, claiming that three Indian citizens were affected in the incident. Baghai expressed condolences to the affected Indian families and demanded an impartial investigation into the matter by the international community.
Iran alleges that US policies are responsible for the increasing instability and maritime attacks in the region, which are posing a challenge to global peace and maritime security.
India expressed concern-
India’s Ministry of External Affairs condemned the attack on the ship, saying that 21 of the 24 Indian crew members were safe, while three Indians were still reported missing. The Indian Embassy is continuously monitoring the search and rescue operations in collaboration with the Oman administration.
The Foreign Ministry said that the increasing attacks on ships in the region are a matter of concern and all parties should reduce tension and move forward through dialogue.
What next?
The latest statements from America and Iran have made it clear that there are still many important differences regarding a possible agreement. On one hand, Trump is describing the agreement as almost final, while on the other hand, Iran is refusing to reach any conclusion. At the same time, the issue related to Indian sailors makes this entire incident very important for India also.
Now the eyes of the world are on the diplomatic talks to be held in the coming days, which will decide whether West Asia will move towards peace or the tension will deepen.
