South Korea beats Czech Republic 2-1 thanks to Hwang In-bom’s all-round performance

Guadalajara. In the FIFA World Cup 2026 match, South Korea made a spectacular comeback by defeating Czech Republic 2-1. In this match played on Friday morning Indian time at Guadalajara Stadium, Hwang In-bom became the hero of the victory by scoring one goal and assisting one goal.

In the first half, both the teams could not perform as expected and the spectators also expressed disappointment. After a goalless first half, the match came to life in the second half.

Czech Republic took the lead in the 59th minute. Captain Ladislav Krejci gave the team a 1-0 lead by converting a long throw in the penalty area into a header.

However, South Korea soon made a comeback. In the 67th minute, Hwang In-beom displayed brilliant individual skill, outwitted two defenders and scored a brilliant goal to level the score.

After this, in the 80th minute, Hwang gave an excellent cross from the right end, on which Oh Hyeon-gyu scored, giving South Korea a decisive lead.

Led by star forward Son Heung-min, South Korea controlled the ball throughout the match and put constant pressure on the Czech team. Korea, ranked 25th in the FIFA rankings, created more chances than the 38th-ranked Czech team and ultimately won.

This was the Czech Republic’s first World Cup match since 2006, but the team could not make a comeback.

Despite the stadium’s capacity being 45,664, the official spectator count was recorded at 44,985, although seats appeared empty in many sections.
