Amidst the tremendous enthusiasm of the home crowd at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka, Bangladeshi Tigers created history by defeating six-time World Cup champion Australia in the second ODI. Took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series and registered its first bilateral ODI series win against Australia and created history, let’s know the complete details.

Australia had one of the worst starts in ODI cricket after opting to bat after winning the toss. Bangladesh’s fast bowling duo, Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman destroyed the top order and took three wickets of the visiting team without scoring any runs.

Matt Short, Cooper Connolly and Matt Renshaw were all out without opening an account, leaving Australia stunned. The team’s decline continued and half the Australian team returned to the pavilion at the score of 65 runs.

Amidst this turmoil, Marnus Labuschagne played bravely and scored unbeaten 55 runs and took over the innings. Due to rain, the overs of the match had to be reduced and ultimately Australia managed to score 187/8 in 42 overs.

Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman bowled brilliantly and took three wickets each, while Tanveer Islam took two important wickets. Nahid Rana also impressed with his pace and discipline despite not getting a wicket.

Bangladesh achieved the target in spectacular style

Rain intervened once again, reducing Bangladesh’s target to 192 runs in 41 overs. The host team suffered an initial blow when Tanjid Hasan was out without opening the account, but Soumya Sarkar and captain Nazmul Hussain Shanto handled the innings by playing important innings of 42-42 runs.

Liton Das scored 21 runs, after which Tauheed Hridoy took the responsibility of chasing the target with composure and scored an unbeaten 40 runs. Mehdi Hasan Miraz remained unbeaten on 22 as Bangladesh won comfortably and achieved the target in 35 overs with five wickets to spare.
