Women’s T20 World Cup 2026: Scotland’s Abtaha Maqsood out of T20 World Cup; Hannah Rainey named replacement

Scotland leg spinner Abtaha Maqsood has been ruled out of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 due to injury.

Maqsood sustained a metacarpel fracture during the side’s warm-up game against Pakistan on June 9.

The Event Technical Committee has approved Hannah Rainey as a replacement for Abtaha Maqsood in the Scottish squad.

The replacement of a player requires the approval of the Event Technical Committee before the replacement player can be officially added to the squad.

The Event Technical committee of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 consists of Wasim Khan (ETC Chair, ICC General Manager – Cricket, ICC representative), Gaurav Saxena (ICC General Manager – Events & Corporate Communications, IBC representative), Beth Barrett-Wild (Tournament Director, host representative) and Stacy-Ann King ( Independent nominee).
