Adani Solar Ranking 2026: Adani Solar makes India proud, ranks sixth in the world
Adani Solar Ranking 2026: Adani Solar, the solar manufacturing unit of Adani New Industries Limited (ANIL), has been ranked sixth in Wood Mackenzie’s Global Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Module Manufacturers Ranking 2026. It has become the highest ranking Indian company in this annual assessment. According to a report by energy research and consultancy firm Wood Mackenzie, the company has improved from eighth position in the previous ranking and is the only Indian manufacturer to feature in the global top 10. The 2026 study evaluated 48 solar module manufacturers on multiple parameters, including capacity utilization, technology maturity, financial performance, supply chain strength and operational efficiency.
Adani Solar gets ‘Grade A’ status
Wood Mackenzie has given ‘Grade A’ status to Adani Solar. For this, the company’s performance in manufacturing, technology, financial condition, strength of supply chain and operational metrics has been cited. This ranking has come at a time when India wants to increase domestic solar manufacturing capacity and reduce dependence on imports. According to industry data disclosed by the company, India’s solar module manufacturing capacity has increased from less than 2.5 gigawatts (GW) in 2014 to more than 170 GW in 2026, while domestic solar cell manufacturing capacity has reached 27 GW. Chinese companies occupy the top six positions in Wood Mackenzie’s list. LONGi Green Energy tops the list, followed by Jinko Solar, JA Solar and Trinasolar.
Adani Solar is in the final stages of expanding the annual capacity of its integrated manufacturing facility in Mundra, Gujarat to 10 GW. The company currently operates 2 GW of ingot and wafer capacity and 4-4 GW of solar cell and module manufacturing capacity. Unlike many manufacturers that operate in only one part of the solar value chain, Adani Solar’s operations span across ingots, wafers, solar cells and finished modules.
Contributing to the manufacturing industry
The company was also recognized as a BloombergNEF Tier-1 Manufacturer in Q2 2026 and has been consistently rated a top performer in independent solar module reliability assessments conducted by Kiwa PVEL. Wood Mackenzie said the global rankings remain dominated by Chinese manufacturers, while companies from India, South Korea and Singapore are emerging as contributors to a more geographically diverse solar manufacturing industry.

Solar market is growing rapidly in India
India has become one of the fastest growing solar markets in the world and is set to overtake the US in terms of annual solar capacity addition in 2025. The country has installed more than 155 GW of solar power capacity to meet its clean energy and climate goals. India’s solar module manufacturing capacity is expected to increase from less than 2.5 gigawatts (GW) in 2014 to more than 170 GW by 2026; It is also supported by domestic solar cell capacity of 27 GW. The number of companies manufacturing solar modules has increased from 21 in 2021 to around 100 today, which shows the rapid expansion of this sector.
India has also overtaken the US in terms of adding solar production capacity annually and is set to become the world’s second largest market in terms of solar growth in 2025. It has crossed the milestone of over 155 GW of installed solar capacity, helping the country achieve the target of 50 per cent non-fossil fuel capacity and meet its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) ahead of schedule.
