New Delhi, June 12. Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Friday chaired a security review meeting held in the national capital regarding the preparations for Amarnath Yatra 2026 to be held from July 3 to August 28 this year. The meeting was attended by Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Union Home Secretary, Army Chief, Director of Intelligence Bureau (IB), Chief Secretary and Director General of Police of Jammu and Kashmir, Director General of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and senior officials of Home Ministry, Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Administration.
Emphasis on safety and smooth travel of devotees
Amit Shah said that the Central Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is fully committed to ensuring supreme security and smooth journey of the Amarnath Yatra devotees. He directed all the security agencies to prepare an integrated and impenetrable security cover for the Yatra with mutual coordination.

Instructions for installing multi-layered security grid
The Home Minister said that a multi-layered security grid should be established on the Yatra route with the cooperation of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Armed Police Forces and other security agencies. He also stressed on extensive use of drones, CCTV surveillance, surveillance systems and other modern technologies to further strengthen the security system.
Senior officials will monitor the camp sites
Shah directed that during the yatra, senior officers of various CAPFs and Jammu and Kashmir Police should be present at the camp sites and continuously monitor the arrangements. He said that proper arrangements for all necessary facilities including registration of devotees, accommodation, health services and disaster management should be ensured.
Groups of devotees will proceed according to the weather
The Home Minister said that arrangements should be made to move the groups of devotees keeping in mind the weather conditions and forecast. Apart from the yatra route, he directed to ensure strong security arrangements at other major tourist places also, so that devotees can enjoy tourist activities safely.
Local people and animals will get identity cards with QR code
It was informed in the meeting that local people and animals involved in the yatra will be registered and they will be issued identity cards with QR code.
