The anger of thousands of students going to appear in the recruitment examination of Bihar Police Prohibition Department erupted at Patliputra railway station on Sunday. There was a lot of resentment among the candidates due to lack of adequate train arrangements and delay in running of many trains. Due to the fear of missing the examination, the candidates started protesting against the railway administration, which turned violent in no time.

The situation became more tense when the special train run for the examination reached the station. There was chaos to board the train and a large number of candidates came down on the railway track. After this, incidents of uproar, sloganeering and vandalism came to light in the station premises, due to which railway operations were also affected.

1. The recruitment examination of the Prohibition Department was to be conducted in two shifts. Thousands of candidates from different districts had reached Patliputra station late at night and early in the morning to appear in the examination, but due to lack of adequate trains and many trains arriving late from the scheduled time, the worries of the candidates increased.

2. As soon as the exam special train from Patliputra to Katihar reached the station, a huge crowd of candidates gathered. The situation started worsening amid the competition to get a seat and a place in the train. Many candidates started protesting against the chaos.

3. Expressing their displeasure against the railway administration, a large number of candidates sat on the railway track. They demonstrated in front of the train and raised slogans and disrupted the train operation. This created an atmosphere of chaos at the station for some time.

4. During the demonstration, some unruly elements further spoiled the atmosphere. The exam special train was vandalized and there was heavy stone pelting. Information about several policemen being injured in stone pelting has also come to light. Questions also started being raised regarding the security arrangements in the station premises.

5. As soon as information about the incident was received, police teams from several nearby police stations reached the spot but the situation remained tense. To control the crowd and maintain law and order, the police had to fire three rounds in the air.

6. IG Jitendra Rana and Rupaspur police station in-charge suffered minor injuries during the violent clash and stone pelting. After this, additional police force was deployed on the spot. Senior administrative and police officers are continuously camping to monitor the situation.

7. After the controversy and demonstration, the railway administration came into action. To reach the candidates to the examination centers on time, operation of additional special trains was started. Railway officials appealed to the candidates to maintain peace and assured them of reaching their destination safely.
