There was a sensation in Jhalwa Devghat area of Airport police station area on Saturday morning when bike-riding miscreants fatally attacked a fruit seller. The miscreants opened fire targeting fruit seller Vinod, seriously injuring him. After the incident, the attackers fled from the spot, while an atmosphere of chaos and panic was created in the area.
According to eyewitnesses, Vinod was busy in his daily work on Saturday morning. Meanwhile, two youths riding a bike reached there. After keeping an eye on the surrounding activities for some time, he suddenly opened fire on Vinod. As soon as the bullet hit, Vinod fell on the ground bleeding. Hearing the sound of gunshot, nearby people ran towards the spot, but by then the attackers had fled.
As soon as information about the incident was received, the Airport Police Station reached the spot. The police sent the injured Vinod to Swaroop Rani Nehru (SRN) Hospital for immediate treatment, where doctors described his condition as critical. His treatment is continuing in the hospital and doctors are constantly monitoring his condition.
The police station in-charge said that prima facie the matter seems to be related to old enmity.
