Under this scheme, the government is providing bumper financial assistance i.e. subsidy to the common citizens for installing rooftop solar panels on the roofs of their houses. What is PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme and its main objective?

The central government had launched this revolutionary scheme in February 2024. Its main vision is to make crores of families of the country self-reliant, reduce their electricity expenses to zero or extremely low and to protect the environment by promoting renewable energy (clean energy) in India. Complete mathematics of subsidy: 2kW solar plant will cost only ₹ 30,000

Installing solar panels has now become more affordable than before. The structure of subsidy given by the government is as follows:

  • Full cost and savings of 2 kilowatts (2kW): If you install a solar plant of 2 kilowatt capacity in your house, then its estimated total cost in the market will be around Rs 1.20 lakh Comes.

  • Benefit of double subsidy: Out of this expense, the Central Government gives you a subsidy of Rs 60,000, while the Uttar Pradesh Government gives a separate state subsidy of Rs 30,000.

At present, the financial budget and subsidy arrangements of this scheme are not being made by the government. 31 March 2027 Approval has been given only till now.
