Toyota’s new 7 seater SUV is coming soon! Know about the ‘Toyota Highrider’ that comes with AWD and hybrid powertrains
Toyota Highrider has created a distinct identity in the Indian SUV market in a very short span of time. Despite sharing a platform and powertrain with the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, the Highrider has carved out a niche for itself. Now, Toyota is gearing up to bring a 7-seater version of the popular midsize SUV which has been spotted testing several times. This new three-row SUV is likely to enter the Indian market in late 2026 or early 2027.
The design of the new 7-seater Highrider will be similar to the existing 5-seater model, but will see some key changes. The SUV can get a redesigned front grille, revised bumper, attractive air dams, new alloy wheels and more stylish LED taillamps. The length of the vehicle will be extended to accommodate additional seats, thereby providing more space in the cabin.
Why is Maruti Suzuki Dzire still so popular among SUV loving Indians?
Although the company has not given any official information about the interior yet, it is expected to get more premium features than the current model. Features like a large touchscreen infotainment display, digital driver display, panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charger, multi-color ambient lighting, 8-way power adjustable driver seat, ventilated front seats and head-up display (HUD) can be offered.
This SUV is also likely to be more capable in terms of safety. Options may include six airbags, tire pressure monitoring system, 360-degree camera, electronic parking brake with auto hold and advanced ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) technology.

Front-wheel drive (FWD) will be standard, while an all-wheel drive (AWD) option may be available on mild-hybrid versions. Apart from this, a 1.5-litre petrol-CNG option is also likely to be available, producing 88 PS of power and 121.5 Nm of torque. Transmission options are likely to be 5-speed manual, 6-speed automatic and an e-CVT gearbox option for the strong-hybrid.
