Trump Administration: Why was ‘Claude Mythos 5’ closed? See ‘that’ tough decision by the Trump administration that shook the entire tech industry

  • The Trump administration’s crackdown
  • Forbidden to use by foreign nationals
  • A big blow to the Indian technology sector

Claude Mythos 5 disabled national security : From the global technology sector and AI (Artificial Intelligence) A very shocking and sensational news has come out from the world. Just twenty-four hours ago, the American AI company that declared India as its second largest market and announced a historic partnership with the country’s IT giant Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the same company ‘Anthropic’ has been taken very seriously by the US government. The US Department of Commerce has issued an emergency export control order banning Anthropic’s most advanced and powerful AI models, namely ‘Claude Fable 5’ and ‘Claude Mythos 5’.

The government order clearly states that the use of these models should be suspended immediately for any foreign nationals. Interestingly, this also includes foreign employees who live in the US or work for Anthropic themselves. Due to this unexpected and strict stance of the US government, the company has abruptly disabled both these powerful AI models for all customers globally overnight to avoid legal complications. This has created a stir among Indian developers and the tech world.

A major threat to national security and cause of ‘jailbreak’

According to the information received, the American administration has taken this very strict decision citing national security. This is the first time in US history that a US company has directly exported software or AI models in this way. Previously, such restrictions were seen only on exports of semiconductor chips and supercomputers. But given the speed at which AI technology is advancing, the Trump administration has begun directly considering AI models as national security assets.

According to the Pentagon and US security agencies, the Cloud Mythos 5 and Fable 5 models are highly advanced and have immense cyber security and coding capabilities. An internal test conducted by Amazon researchers found that by bypassing the security cover (Safeguards) of these models, i.e. ‘Jailbreak’, it can be used to find serious errors (Vulnerabilities) in the software and carry out cyber attacks. The Trump administration fears that if the technology falls into the hands of adversaries or hackers, banking systems, government data and other critical infrastructure could be compromised.

What will be the impact on Indian startups and IT sector?

Both of Anthropic’s models were so powerful that early tests showed them completing months of coding work in just a few days. India recently got access to this advanced technology under Anthropic’s ‘Project Glasswing’, in which India was the only non-aligned country. Indian startups, researchers and IT companies were working on many large projects using these models.

But this new fatwa of America has created a big obstacle for the Indian technology sector. Developers who had designed their platforms or applications based on CloudFable 5 are now at a complete standstill. Although Anthropic has said that this was just a ‘misunderstanding’ and that it is working with the government to restore access, there is still no clarity on how long the process will take.

‘Sovereign AI’ is the need of the hour!

This single decision of the US has taught a very important lesson to the entire global tech industry and India in particular. As long as we continue to depend on foreign AI models and their infrastructure, it has now been proven that such geopolitical developments can have a major impact on our digital economy.

After this shock, there is a demand from the Indian technology world that ‘India should now rapidly develop its own secure, sovereign and indigenous AI tools’. Even veterans like Zoho founder Sridhar Vembu have said on social media that technology is the greatest weapon in the modern world and this incident shows how important it is to stand on our own feet in the era of globalization.
