Special teacher of Math-English in CBSE schools of Himachal

Special teachers of Mathematics and English are being appointed in CBSE affiliated government schools of Himachal Pradesh. Instead of teaching regular curriculum, these teachers will work on removing the subject weaknesses of the students. This initiative is being considered an important step towards improving the quality of education.

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Education Department has started a new experiment to increase the quality of education in government CBSE schools. Under this, special teachers of Mathematics and English subjects are being appointed, whose role will be different from traditional teaching. These teachers will pay special attention to identifying and removing the learning deficiencies of the students.

Focus will be on learning weaknesses

The Education Department has implemented a new system to strengthen the basic academic ability of students in CBSE affiliated government schools. The teachers being appointed under this initiative will work with students who need extra support in mathematics and English subjects, rather than making them complete the regular curriculum.

The department believes that many students do not achieve the expected proficiency as per their class level. In such a situation, with the help of special teachers, their basic understanding and learning ability can be improved.

Appointment process of more than 600 teachers

According to the Education Department, 308 mathematics teachers have been appointed for CBSE schools. Apart from this, a proposal for appointment of 305 English teachers has also been sent to the government. After getting approval, their appointment orders will be issued.

These teachers will have to work with students from pre-primary to class 12th. The school management will decide in which class and at what time their services will be used.

Teachers will not teach regular syllabus

The most important thing about the new system is that these teachers will not teach the entire syllabus like general subject teachers. Their main function will be to identify the shortcomings in the learning of the students and remove them.

For this, the department will prepare a special curriculum separately. This course will be in addition to the existing academic curriculum and will aim to strengthen the mathematical and linguistic skills of the students.

Appointment will be for five years

These teachers will be appointed under a special scheme for a period of five years. He will be given a fixed honorarium of Rs 30 thousand per month. However, honorarium will be available only for 10 months in a year and will not be paid during leave period.

The Education Department says that this system will help in improving the level of learning in schools and achieving results in line with the National Education Standards.

Teachers organizations raised questions

Teachers organizations have also raised some objections regarding this new recruitment process. He says that appointment of teachers without clear designation may create administrative and service related challenges in future.

Teacher organizations argue that the role and position structure of appointed teachers should be clear. However, the Education Department says that this is a special educational initiative, aimed only at improving the quality of learning of students.

Initiative towards improving education quality

Experts believe that separate support arrangements for weak students in subjects like Mathematics and English can give positive results. This type of remedial education model is also being worked on in many states of the country.

If this experiment is successful, then in future a similar system can be implemented in other schools and subjects of Himachal Pradesh. The Education Department hopes that this will see improvement in the learning level of students and results of board examinations.
