IND vs PAK: Smriti Mandhana’s storm and Deepti Sharma’s ‘claw’, India defeated Pakistan by 64 runs

Birmingham. In the Women’s T20 World Cup, India has once again proved that it has no match in high-pressure matches. In the great match played at the historic Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham, the Indian women’s cricket team defeated arch-rival Pakistan by a huge margin of 64 runs. While Smriti Mandhana created havoc with the bat in India’s resounding victory, spin bowler Deepti Sharma so entangled the Pakistani team with her web of spin that they lost the match one-sidedly.

Pakistan blown away by Smriti Mandhana’s storm

After winning the toss and coming to bat first, the Indian team had a very strong start. Opener Smriti Mandhana came on the field today in a different mood. Taking remand from the Pakistani bowlers, he hit fours and sixes all around the field. Facing just 44 balls, Mandhana played a quick half-century of 68 runs, which included 9 skyscraper fours and 2 thundering sixes. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur also batted intelligently and added 36 runs, while in the last overs, Richa Ghosh scored 34 runs in 17 balls in an explosive manner, taking India’s score to a strong total of 170 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs. Sadia Iqbal and Fatima Sana took 2-2 wickets for Pakistan.

Deepti Sharma’s ‘Panje’ broke Pakistan’s back

The Pakistani team, which set out to chase the challenging target of 171 runs, looked helpless from the very beginning in front of the tight line-length of the Indian bowlers. Opener Muniba Ali tried to fight alone by playing an inning of 41 runs, but she did not get any support from the other end. India’s star spinner Deepti Sharma destroyed the Pakistani batting order with her lethal bowling. Deepti took 5 wickets giving only 10 runs in her spell. Thanks to this ‘claw’ of Deepti, the entire Pakistani team collapsed for just 106 runs in 17 overs. For India, Shri Charani also bowled brilliantly and took 3 wickets, while Shefali Verma got one success. With this spectacular victory, the Indian team has established its dominance in the tournament.
