Bangladesh has defeated Australia 2-1 in the 3 ODI series. Bangladesh had taken a winning lead in the series by winning the first two matches. Had Cooper Connolly not scored a century for Australia in the last match, the team would have faced a clean sweep.

3 players scored fifty for Bangladesh

The third and last ODI match between Bangladesh and Australia was played today, June 14, at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka. After winning the toss and batting first, Bangladesh scored 274 runs for 5 wickets. Tauheed Hriday, Mosaddek Hussain Saikat and wicketkeeper Liton Das scored half-centuries for Bangladesh. Tauheed Hriday played the highest innings of 83 runs in 88 balls. While Liton Das remained unbeaten and scored 58 runs on 78 balls. Mosaddek Hussain Saikat played an inning of 56 runs in 51 balls. Xavier Bartlett and Matt Renshaw took 2-2 wickets for Australia.

Australia faltered after a good start

Australia had a good start to chase the target of 275 runs given by Bangladesh. The team lost the first and second wickets on the score of 40 runs. Shoriful Islam gave two big blows to Australia in a single over. After this, the Australian team kept losing wickets, but Cooper Connolly, who came to open at the other end, stood firm and scored a brilliant century. At one time Australia’s score was 266 runs for 5 wickets, but then Australia lost 9 wickets at the score of 271 runs.

Cooper Connolly saves Australia from clean sweep by scoring a century

Australia lost its 9th wicket in the form of Cooper Connolly on the score of 271 runs, after which it seemed that Australia lost this match too, but in the last over, Adam Zampa scored 4 not out and Riley Meredith scored 2 not out to give Australia victory. If Cooper Connolly had not scored a century, Australia would have faced a clean sweep against Bangladesh. Cooper Connolly played a brilliant inning of 149 runs in 134 balls. During this period, 13 fours and 2 sixes came from his bat.

Cooper Connolly becomes the third young batsman to score a century in ODI for Australia

Let us tell you that Connolly has become the third youngest batsman to score a century in ODI for Australia. The record of scoring the youngest century in ODI for Australia is held by Ricky Ponting. Ponting scored a century at the age of just 21 years and 21 days. At second place is Steve Smith, who achieved this feat at the age of 21 years and 118 days. Cooper Connolly has become the third youngest Australian batsman to score a century against Bangladesh at the age of 22 years and 296 days.

Australia lost to Bangladesh for the first time in ODI series

For the first time, Australia has faced defeat against Bangladesh in an ODI series. In the first ODI, Bangladesh defeated Australia by 86 runs using the Duck-worth-Lewis rule. After this, in the second ODI match, Australia had to face defeat by 5 wickets against Bangladesh by Duckworth-Lewis rule. Australia saved itself from a clean sweep by winning the third match.
