Earthquake havoc in China: Earth trembled 8 times in 40 minutes, one died due to tremors of 6.3 magnitude

Beijing. The powerful earthquake that occurred in China’s Qinghai province on Tuesday spread panic among the people. The intensity of the earthquake was recorded at 6.3 on the Richter scale. After strong tremors, people got scared and came out of their homes and offices. The epicenter was reported to be in Haxi province, where authorities immediately put relief and rescue agencies on alert.

Earth shook eight times in 40 minutes-
According to local media and the disaster management department, eight strong aftershocks were felt within about 40 minutes of the main earthquake. The continuous aftershocks have further increased the concern of the people. Due to frequent trembling of the earth, relief and rescue operations are also facing obstacles. Many people are forced to spend the night in open places in view of security.

One dead, four injured-
According to latest reports, at least one person has died due to the earthquake, while four others have been seriously injured. The administration is busy assessing the damage and providing relief in the affected areas.

The center was only 10 kilometers deep.
According to the seismological observatory, the earthquake occurred at 5:06 pm local time. Its center was only 10 kilometers below the earth’s surface. Due to the low depth the tremors were felt quite intensely. The epicenter of the earthquake was the mountainous and remote area of Haixi, but its effects were felt in many surrounding districts.

Aftershocks increased concern-
After the main shock, continuous aftershocks are being recorded, one of which was measured at magnitude 5. Experts say that this area is located in the collision zone of the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates, due to which major earthquakes occur here from time to time.

However, the Disaster Management Department has placed this incident in the “Score-2” category, which indicates limited possibility of large-scale damage. Despite this, continuous aftershocks have increased the concern of both the local people and the administration.
