Before the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament, discussions regarding cabinet expansion have intensified in central politics. Political analysts believe that the party can give opportunities to new faces as part of its strategy to strengthen its hold among the business class and urban voters.
In view of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, BJP can also include any Scheduled Caste or Brahmin face in the cabinet. In this context, the name of Madhya Pradesh BJP President VD Sharma is also in discussion. Considering his active role in the party organization and continuous electoral successes, he is expected to get important responsibility.
With a view to giving representation to the tribal leadership, the name of Mandla MP Faggan Singh Kulaste is also being said to be included among the possible contenders. It is believed that BJP may give priority to this section to further strengthen its hold among the tribal voters.
Discussions are also going on regarding women representation. At present six women MPs from Madhya Pradesh have reached the Lok Sabha. Among these, the name of Bhind MP Sandhya Rai is also being taken among the possible contenders. Political experts believe that keeping in mind the representation of Scheduled Caste class and women, the party can give them a chance.
At present the Modi government includes six ministers from Madhya Pradesh. Among them, Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Jyotiraditya Scindia and Dr. Virendra Kumar are cabinet ministers, while Savitri Thakur, Durgadas Uike and L Murugan are holding the responsibility as ministers of state.
There is also discussion in political circles that cabinet expansion may happen by the end of this month or early next month. Looking at the political equations of Punjab, there is speculation that Tarun Chugh will get important responsibility.
