India’s rise in ICC rankings: Deepti Sharma, who opened her ‘claw’ against Pakistan, got the advantage, Hayley Mathews again became the number-1 all-rounder
India had defeated Pakistan by 64 runs in its first match of the tournament. Deepti Sharma had an important contribution in this victory. He took 5 wickets for just 10 runs and was adjudged player of the match. Due to this performance, Deepti moved up 2 places to number three in the T20 all-rounder rankings.
Now only West Indies’ Hayley Matthews and New Zealand captain Mellie Kerr are ahead of Deepti. Mathews performed brilliantly against New Zealand, scoring 48 runs and also took one wicket. For this reason, she regained the number-1 ranking, leaving behind Mellie Kerr.
Shri Charani created a new career best
Indian team’s young left arm spinner Shri Charani also got a big benefit. In the T20 rankings for bowlers, she jumped 5 places to reach second place. This is the best ranking of his career. Charani is now just 5 rating points behind number-1 bowler Linsey Smith of England. If her excellent performance continues, she can soon become the world number-1 T20 bowler.
Deepti has also jumped five places in the bowling rankings and has now reached fifth position. This has further strengthened the presence of the Indian team in the list of top bowlers in the world.
Changes in batting ranking also
Australia’s Georgia Woll remains at number-1 in the ranking of women T20 batsmen. South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt has moved up one place to second position after her inning of 44 runs. She has left behind Australia’s Beth Mooney.
Australia’s Phoebe Litchfield has moved up four places to a career-best 10th position. Meanwhile, England’s experienced batsman Danny Wyatt-Hodge has jumped six places to reach 14th position after scoring a century against Sri Lanka. Scotland captain Katherine Bryce has also returned to the top-10 by jumping seven places in the all-rounder rankings due to her excellent performance.
