G7 Summit: World leaders gathered in France, peace agreement signed between America and Iran, Ukraine will also get full support

The 52nd G7 summit is taking place from 15 to 17 June 2026 in Évian-les-Bains, France. Leaders of the most powerful countries of the world are present in this meeting. The biggest news here is about the peace agreement between America and Iran and the help given to Ukraine.

Peace agreement between America and Iran

An initial peace agreement has been reached between America and Iran to end hostilities. The main objective of this deal is to end the tension between the two countries and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The official papers of this agreement will be signed on Friday, June 19, 2026 in Switzerland.

  • This important sea route is expected to be fully opened by June 19.
  • America has sought help from European countries in removing gunpowder and mines from this route.
  • European leaders are still awaiting full details of the agreement as its written copy has not yet been made public.

Big decision for Ukraine

The G7 countries have reiterated their support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and defense of its territory. The leaders have promised to strengthen Ukraine’s military and energy capabilities.

  • Ukraine will be given more air defense systems and long-range weapons.
  • Consideration is being given to granting license to manufacture weapons in Ukraine itself.
  • Help will be given to improve Ukraine’s electricity and energy system before winter.
  • To increase pressure on Russia’s economy, more stringent sanctions will be imposed on the oil and gas sector.

This summit is being hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron. US President Donald Trump has participated in it. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and leaders of UAE, Qatar, Brazil, Egypt, Kenya and South Korea also participated in select discussions at the meeting.

Other important issues

Apart from peace agreements, the economic situation of the world and the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) were also discussed in this summit. Also, emphasis was laid on reducing dependence on China for the supply of essential minerals and keeping the supply chain stable.
