Prime Minister Narendra Modi G7 summit During this, the issue of security of global maritime trade routes and safety of seafarers was raised prominently. He appealed to all countries to keep sea routes safe so that sailors around the world can do their work without any fear. This comment of the Prime Minister has come at a time when three Indian sailors were killed in the recent US military attack on a merchant ship in the Gulf of Oman.
In the outreach session of the G7 Summit held in France, in the presence of many global leaders including US President Donald Trump, Prime Minister Modi also mentioned the economic and humanitarian effects of the ongoing tension in West Asia. He said that the disruptions in maritime trade in Hormuz have affected the global economy and Indian citizens have also lost their lives in this conflict.
