ST Bus Tickets : The pockets of ST passengers will be more expensive; Big decision on tickets
ST Bus Tickets | Lakhs of passengers traveling by ST buses in Maharashtra have faced a huge financial shock. The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has decided to retain the 10 per cent seasonal hike in fares for general bus services for another month.
In fact, there was a seasonal hike in ticket prices from April 15 to June 15 in the wake of increased rush of passengers and extra bus runs during the summer holidays. But now it has been decided to maintain this seasonal increase during summer vacations for one more month. The State Transport Corporation has explained that the extension has been given in view of rising fuel prices, increased expenditure on staff and increase in other operating expenses.
What is the new fare structure?
According to the revised fare, passengers will be charged Rs 11.05 per stage. However, the minimum fare for senior passengers has been maintained at Rs 14 and for children at Rs 7. Importantly, this hike will be applicable only for general ST bus services. There is currently no change in fares for other special or air-conditioned bus services. ST Bus Tickets
MSRTC has directed all Divisional Controllers, Regional Managers and concerned officers in the state to continue implementation of the revised fare rates. The corporation has clarified that this decision has been taken to continue uninterrupted bus services across the state in the face of increasing financial stress. Due to this, passengers traveling by ST daily will have to bear the burden of increased fare for another month.
