What is the system?
Smart warehousing system has been developed as an integrated technology-based solution, with the aim of strengthening the warehouse management system and increasing the efficiency of food grain storage operations. The initiative is expected to develop a modern storage system, which will make foodgrain management more effective and help ensure the country’s food security in the long run.
Will use advanced technology
According to the ministry, this initiative is in line with the vision of government initiatives such as Digital India, India AI Mission, PM Gati Shakti and Atmanirbhar Bharat. During the event, the department will felicitate the best performing warehouses of Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) and Food Corporation of India (FCI) under ‘Depot Darpan’ evaluation framework. Smart warehousing systems will use advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), automation and data analytics to improve warehouse operations and make monitoring systems more effective.
Part of the reform program
According to an official statement, the system will enable automation of gate and weighbridge (weighbridge) operations, digital access management, smart monitoring of warehouse status, improved visibility of stock and real-time monitoring of operations through an integrated dashboard.
Over the years, several steps have been taken to increase transparency, improve efficiency and improve service in the procurement, storage and distribution system. During the event, the best performing warehouses will also be felicitated under ‘Depo Darpan’.
