England vs Croatia: Kane’s magic… England’s explosive start in the World Cup, defeating Croatia 4-2

Dallas: England began their campaign with a thrilling 4-2 win over Croatia in Group L at the FIFA World Cup 2026. Harry Kane’s second penalty goal in the 12th minute gave Thomas Tuchel’s side an excellent start, before Martin Baturina equalized with a curled shot from outside the box in the 36th minute. Kane gave England the lead again with a header from Declan Rice’s corner, but Petar Moses leveled the score again in first-half stoppage time following a brilliant Croatia attack. Just two minutes into the second half, Jude Bellingham gave England the lead again.

He took a pass from Elliot Anderson and fired a low shot past Croatia goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic which hit the far post and went in the net. England then created a number of chances, with Likakovic making six saves in a spectacular five-minute spell, before Marcus Rashford, coming off the bench, sealed the victory by scoring the fourth goal with five minutes remaining.

England next face Ghana in Boston on June 23, with Croatia facing Panama in Toronto on the same day. Harry Kane has joined the list of big stars by scoring two goals against the opposition team in the opening match of the World Cup. Players like Erling Haaland, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe have made their early mark at the World Cup, and now Kane’s two goals have put him among the top players in the world in the scoring charts.
