Ghana vs Panama: Great win for Ghana without Thomas Partey, last minute goal, put England on top of Group L

Toronto: In the FIFA World Cup 2026, Ghana’s football team performed brilliantly and registered a thrilling win against Panama in the group stage. In the fifth minute of stoppage time of the second half of the match played on Wednesday night, Ghana got off to a winning start in the World Cup thanks to Caleb Yirenke’s goal from Brandon Thomas-Asante’s cross. Both teams got very few chances to score goals in the match.

Finally, Thomas-Asante advanced from the left and crossed the ball across the face of goal. Yirenki scored a goal on him, after which his teammates happily ran on the field. Ghana played the match without midfielder Thomas Partey, who was denied entry to Canada due to his pending trial in England. Due to this goal scored at the last moment, Panama could not get its first point in the World Cup.

The first half remained goalless amid a fierce competition between the two teams. The goaltender was ejected from the game at halftime after some heavy collisions. He was replaced by Benjamin Asare. The result leaves Ghana top of Group L along with England, who defeated Croatia 4-2 earlier in the day.
