Star batsman Joe Root has scored the most runs for England in Test cricket. If Root scores 48 runs in the ongoing second Test match at the Oval, he will become the second player in the world after Sachin Tendulkar to touch the figure of 14000 runs in Test cricket. Apart from this, Root can touch the figure of 14 thousand runs in his 165th Test match only, whereas Sachin had scored 14 thousand runs in 171 Test matches.

How many runs did Joe Root score in test cricket?
Let us tell you, English batsman Joe Root has so far scored a total of 13,952 runs in 300 innings of 164 test matches. On the other hand, Sachin Tendulkar ended his 24-year long Test career by scoring 15,921 runs in 200 matches. Apart from this, Joe Root will have a chance to become the first batsman in the world to score 2,000 runs in Test cricket against New Zealand. He can become only the second player in the world to reach 14 thousand runs in Test cricket.

35-year-old England’s legendary batsman Joe Root made his Test debut in 2012. He has scored 1,934 runs in the 22 Test matches played so far against the Black Caps i.e. New Zealand. Apart from this, Root has scored 3,106 runs in 54 international matches against New Zealand. If the English batsmen score at least 62 runs in the next match, they will become the second batsman to score the most runs against New Zealand in all formats, leaving behind legendary batsmen like Ricky Ponting and Virat Kohli. The record of scoring the most runs against the Black Caps in international cricket is held in the name of Sachin Tendulkar, who scored 3,345 runs in 80 innings of 66 matches against the Kiwi team.
