In olden times there was this ‘unspoken rule’ regarding pictures of Sunny Deol and Dimple Kapadia; Senior photographer made interesting revelation
Bollywood’s action legend and ‘Gadar’ fame actor Sunny Deol is as aggressive as he looks on the cinematic screen, but in his personal life, he likes to remain equally calm and reserved. Sunny Deol, who is famous for always keeping a very low-profile in the film industry, talks very little about his family and keeps his personal life far away from the glare of media and limelight. Despite this, for the past several decades, rumors and speculations about his alleged relationship with veteran actress Dimple Kapadia have been making headlines in the entertainment world from time to time. However, both these artists have never openly reacted to these speculations till date. Recently, senior and well-known media photographer Ramakant Munde has shared an interesting glimpse of that old era of Bollywood, when there was no sign of Paparazzi culture, PR teams and social media like today. He told how media photographers worked in that era and what unspoken rules were applicable among them.
"Were given strict instructions not to take photos together" — Ramakant Munde Reliving the memories of that old era, Ramakant Munde told in an interview to the entertainment portal ‘Hindi Rush’ that at that time there were some such things among the photographers of the film industry, which everyone strictly believed even without writing. He revealed that in those days, photographers were specifically instructed to never take pictures of Sunny Deol and Dimple Kapadia together (in the same frame). Ramakant Munde said:
"Sometimes Sunny and Dimple were present together on a film set, at a big film event or wedding function. But they did not like to pose or get photographed together in front of the camera in public. It was very clear among the media and photographers that even if both of them were standing together somewhere, we had to lower our cameras and not click their pictures. Usually, during the event, a member of his personal team would come and gently remind us about this, or we would get a signal from him that we should keep the camera off for now."
How different was that old era of Bollywood from the paparazzi era? In today’s era, where every minute’s live pictures of which restaurants the celebrities are going to, who they are meeting and what they are wearing at the airport go viral on social media, whereas according to Ramakant Munde, the earlier entertainment ecosystem was completely different. More importance was given to glamor than personal life: Munde said that big film magazines and publications of that time were more interested in publishing such pictures in which the stars’ on-screen fashion, jewellery, unique make-up and reel-life glamor were visible. There was no competition at that time to capture the details of actors’ personal lives and their bedroom gossips on camera. Difference in audience perception: Unlike today, the audience of that time was also not much interested in who their favorite star was seeing in his personal life or what was his social circle. The importance of pictures of who is hanging out with whom was not as important as it is for clickbait and views in today’s digital age. In the year 2017, speculations had started again with the London video. Even though in the olden times the media had fully respected their privacy, but in this modern era of social media and smartphones, both had once again come into the limelight. In the year 2017, a short video clip of Sunny Deol and Dimple Kapadia suddenly went viral on the internet. This video was from when both of them were celebrating their holidays in London. In this leaked video, both of them were seen holding each other’s hands near a bus stop on a London street. After this video surfaced, there were a lot of discussions, memes and reactions on social media and gossip circles regarding their past relationship. Family Background of both: If we talk about the personal married life of both the actors, then their family equations are as follows: Dimple Kapadia: Dimple married Rajesh Khanna, the first superstar of Hindi cinema, in the year 1973, just before the release of her blockbuster debut film ‘Bobby’. From this marriage, they had two daughters—elder daughter Twinkle Khanna (born 1974), who is the wife of famous actor Akshay Kumar, and younger daughter Rinke Khanna (born 1977). Although Dimple Kapadia and Rajesh Khanna completely separated from each other in the year 1984, they never took a legal divorce from each other throughout their life and Dimple stood by Rajesh Khanna till his last moments. Sunny Deol: Sunny Deol is married to Pooja Deol, who herself stays away from limelight. The couple has two sons—elder son Karan Deol (who recently got married) and younger son Rajveer Deol, both of whom are making their mark as actors in Bollywood.
