Allu Arjun summoned in Pushpa 2 stampede case; Court orders appearance on 22 June
Hyderabad: Telugu superstar Allu Arjun has been summoned by the Nampally Court in Hyderabad in connection with the tragic stampede incident that occurred during the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule. The court has directed the actor to appear in person on June 22 for further proceedings in the case.
According to reports, the Chikkadpally Police have named Allu Arjun as Accused No. 11 (A11) in the case. The management of Sandhya Theatre, where the incident took place, has been listed as Accused Nos. 1 to 10 (A1–A10). Apart from the actor, summons have also been issued to 19 other accused individuals linked to the incident.
Case Backgrounder
The case stems from a stampede that broke out on December 4, 2024, during the premiere screening of Pushpa 2 at Sandhya Theater in Hyderabad. Thousands of fans gathered at the venue after learning of Allu Arjun’s arrival, leading to severe overcrowding and chaos. During the rush, a 35-year-old woman identified as Revathi lost her life due to suffocation, while her young son sustained serious injuries and required hospitalization.
Investigators alleged that neither the theater management nor the actor’s team had informed authorities in advance about the planned visit, resulting in inadequate crowd-control arrangements. Following the incident, Hyderabad Police registered a case against Allu Arjun, members of his security team, and the theater management under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
On December 13, 2024, the actor was briefly arrested by Hyderabad City Police in connection with the case. However, the Telangana High Court granted him interim bail later the same day. Following the tragedy, Allu Arjun expressed condolences to the victim’s family and announced financial support for them.
The actor was subsequently named in the chargesheet filed by Hyderabad Police, and the legal proceedings are now moving forward with the latest court summons.
On the professional front, Allu Arjun is preparing for his next major project, Raaka, directed by filmmaker Atlee. The film is expected to feature Deepika Padukone in a leading role, while reports also suggest the presence of Rashmika Mandanna, Mrunal Thakur, and Janhvi Kapoor. However, the makers have not yet officially confirmed the complete cast.
