Bring home Tesla for just ₹6 lakh! Tesla introduces new ‘Model Y’ ownership plan, know how the monthly plan works

Read Desk. Becoming a Tesla owner in India may now be easier than many people expected. Tesla has launched the ‘Ease of Ownership’ program, through which customers can take home a Tesla Model Y with a down payment of just ₹ 6 lakh and an initial monthly payment of approximately ₹ 39,990. This offer is part of Tesla’s expansion efforts in India, along with the opening of its new Experience Center in Hyderabad.

Talking about this initiative, Tesla India Head Sharad Aggarwal said that the company is focusing on making electric mobility economically attractive for Indian customers. He said, “The most interesting thing is that under the ‘Ease of Ownership’ program, you can take this car home by making only a down payment of ₹ 6 lakh and monthly payment of approximately ₹ 39,990.”

The company believes that its actual cost of ownership is significantly lower compared to conventional petrol vehicles.

Mathematics of this scheme

According to Aggarwal, a typical car owner spends between ₹15,000 to ₹20,000 every month on fuel and maintenance. “People also save a lot when they lease a car because if you are driving a petrol car, you spend at least ₹15,000 to ₹20,000 on petrol and maintenance. And with fuel prices rising, switching to e-lease makes more sense and a better decision,” he said.

Tesla is positioning the Model Y as a premium vehicle, whose running costs can offset a large portion of the monthly payment. Aggarwal further said, “Imagine that you are driving the world’s best-selling and safest car and you are paying only around ₹ 20,000 for it, because ₹ 20,000 is your saving on petrol and maintenance expenses. So this is a very attractive offer that we are bringing to our customers.”

Apart from affordability, Tesla is also relying on its technology-based service ecosystem to attract buyers. The company claims that its vehicles require very little maintenance and do not follow the typical six-month or 10,000 kilometer service schedule of most car manufacturers.

“For our customers, this end-to-end service model means that our cars require very little maintenance, as this is the only car that does not have a fixed maintenance schedule,” Agarwal said.

Remote customer support!

Tesla’s service strategy relies primarily on remote diagnostics and software-based fixes. “If you need anything done with your car, we can fix most problems remotely. You don’t have to go to our service center,” he said.

For issues that cannot be fixed remotely, Tesla offers 24×7 mobile service support with customer care teams. According to the company, with this model, customers across India can buy Tesla vehicles without waiting for a service center to open nearby.

Aggarwal said, “Customers living in any part of the country can buy the car. To buy any of our Tesla cars, they do not need to wait for the opening of any physical service station or experience center.”
