Affordable EV: Citroen eC3X launched in India; Know details of price, range and features

Affordable EV: Citroen has launched its electric car eC3X in the Indian market. The company has introduced it as an entry-level electric vehicle (EV). Its starting ex-showroom price has been kept at ₹ 6.89 lakh, which comes with Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model. Under this scheme, customers will have to pay a subscription fee of ₹ 2.26 per kilometer for the battery.

For customers who want to pay the full cost of the battery upfront, the eC3X has been priced at ₹10.25 lakh (ex-showroom). The company has also made some cosmetic changes in this model and added a new ‘X’ suffix to its name. At present, booking of this electric car has started.

Design
The exterior design of the new Citroen eC3X is largely similar to its petrol version. The front of the car has LED daytime running lights (DRLs), fog lamps and Citroen’s signature grille. Apart from this, it also has 15-inch alloy wheels and body cladding, which gives it a strong and attractive look.

Talking about colors, this EV is available in six monotone color options, which include Polar White, Steel Grey, Cosmo Blue, Perla Nera Black, Garnet Red and Deep Forest Green.

Interior and Features
According to Citroen, special attention has been paid to making the cabin of the eC3X simple and user-friendly. Electric blue decor has been given on the dashboard and tone Lama leatherette upholstery has been given on the seats. The car gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.

The feature list includes modern features like wireless phone charger, connected car technology 2.0, remote access features and electrochromic IRVM. Customers can also opt for the JBL audio system and front-rear dashcam package at additional cost.

In terms of safety, it has been provided with six airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat anchorage, lane departure warning, high-speed alert and many other safety features.

Battery, range and charging
The Citroen eC3X has a battery pack of 29.2 kWh capacity. The company claims that this electric car provides a driving range of about 320 kilometers once fully charged.

The electric motor fitted with this battery generates power of 57 hp and maximum torque of 143 Nm. Talking about charging, with the help of DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 57 minutes.
