More than 100 regional officers will be deployed for VB-Ji Ram Ji, states will get support

New Delhi, June 19. The Ministry of Rural Development will deploy more than 100 field officers across the country to ensure effective and smooth implementation of the Develop India-Employment and Livelihood Mission (Rural) Act, 2025. These officers will provide necessary support to the states and union territories before the Act comes into force from July 1, 2026.

Will provide institutional support to states and districts

According to the Ministry of Rural Development, regional officers will serve as facilitators and resource persons during the implementation process. They will work with state governments and district administrations to strengthen local capacities, share knowledge, address operational challenges and adopt best practices. Their objective will be to provide necessary institutional support for the smooth functioning of the Act.

Special training given to officers

The Department of Rural Development conducted special training programs to prepare officers for this role. The training provided information on key features of the Act, implementation framework, institutional arrangements, technology-based governance and support mechanisms available to states and districts. The program was presided over by Rural Development Secretary Rohit Kansal while Joint Secretary Rohini R. Bhajibhakare conducted it.

Will communicate at grassroots level

During his visit the regional officers will interact with the state governments, district administration and grassroots level officials. They will help in understanding implementation requirements, promote exchange of experiences and best practices, support capacity building efforts and resolve operational issues. This will lead to better coordination between various stakeholders.

New model of rural development will get strength

The objective of the Rural Development and Gram Panchayat Development Act, 2025 is not to limit rural employment to wage-based employment only but to link it with livelihood promotion, climate adaptation, rural infrastructure creation and technology-based governance. The Act seeks to advance the goal of a developed India by the year 2047 through developed Gram Panchayat Plans (VGPP), GIS based planning and coordination of various schemes.

95,692 Allocation of Rs. Crore

The Ministry has made extensive preparations for the implementation of the Act. An interim allocation of Rs 95,692 crore has been approved for the financial year 2026-27. Also, all the states and union territories have been linked to the DBT-Sparsh platform. E-KYC of about 93% active workers has been completed and face authentication based attendance system has been implemented across the country. Apart from this, large-scale capacity building programs and development of dedicated digital platforms have also been conducted.

27 States and Union Territories made budgetary provisions

So far, 27 States and Union Territories have made budgetary provisions for implementation of the Act. At the same time, six states and union territories have also notified their state schemes under the VB-G Ram Ji framework. The remaining states and union territories are in the process of finalizing their plans.
