Shubman Gill will break Dhawan-Kohli’s record as soon as he scores a century, Babar will also be left behind.
Indian captain Shubgan Gill’s bat is on fire these days. No matter the format, he is scoring runs everywhere. After scoring more than 700 runs in IPL 2026, he played an inning of 126 runs in the only Test against Afghanistan. Shubman has maintained his form even in the ODI series against Afghanistan. After playing an unbeaten inning of 84 runs in the first ODI, he scored 154 runs in the second ODI played in Lucknow. This was his 9th century.
Shubman will now leave behind legends like Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli after scoring a century. Actually, Dhawan holds the record of scoring the fastest 10 ODI centuries for India. He achieved this feat in 77 innings. After him is Kohli, who took 80 innings to reach this milestone. Shubhman has scored 9 ODI centuries in 63 innings.

Will you leave Babar-Fakhar behind?
The third ODI match between India and Afghanistan is to be played in Chennai on Saturday (June 21). If Shubman scores a century in this match, he will leave behind not only Dhawan-Kohli but also Pakistan’s Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam. While Fakhar has scored 10 ODI centuries in 67 innings, Babar has played one more innings than him. Shubman will play the 64th innings of his career in Chennai. Even if he does not score a century with his bat, he will still have a chance to break Fakhar-Babar’s record.
The world record for scoring the fastest 10 ODI centuries is in the name of Quinton de Kock. This South African wicketkeeper batsman had achieved this feat in just 55 innings. His compatriot Hashim Amla scored 10 ODI centuries in 57 innings. If Shubman manages to score even a single century in the next 3 ODI innings, he will become the third batsman after De Kock-Amla to score the fastest 10 centuries in this format.
