CBI investigation completed in NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case, charge sheet will reach court in 10 days

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has almost completed its investigation in the paper leak case of NEET-UG 2026, the country’s biggest medical entrance exam. According to sources, the agency has prepared the final draft of the charge sheet, which is being closely reviewed by the legal team and experts. If everything goes as per plan, the charge sheet will be filed in the court within the next 10 days. At present, the investigating agency sees very little possibility of arresting any new big accused in this case.

13 accused arrested so far, more than 100 people interrogated

A total of 13 people have been arrested so far in the CBI investigation. These accused will be made the main accused in the charge sheet. During the investigation, the agency interrogated more than 100 people and conducted raids in several states. However, till now the involvement of any big political or high-profile name has not come to light. Officials say that the charge sheet has been prepared only after thorough investigation of all aspects related to the case.

The network was spread across the country

During the investigation, CBI took action in many cities including Delhi, Jaipur, Gurugram, Latur, Pune and Nashik. The arrested accused include coaching center operators, doctors, teachers and other people related to the examination. The agency seized mobile phones, laptops and many important documents of the accused. Forensic investigation of all these was done, due to which digital and technical evidence was also recovered. This evidence will now be presented in the court.

The reason for strictness on Telegram also came to light

During the investigation, CBI came to know that some gangs were carrying out illegal activities related to the examination using encrypted messaging platforms. The agency believes that monitoring such platforms is more challenging than other social media apps. For this reason, both security arrangements and digital monitoring have been strengthened before the re-exam, so that any kind of irregularities can be prevented.

There will be major changes in the examination system of NTA

According to sources, based on the shortcomings revealed during the investigation, the National Testing Agency (NTA) is preparing to make several changes in its examination process. The objective is to completely prevent incidents like paper leaks in future and make the examination system more secure and transparent. CBI believes that the digital and scientific evidence collected in this case will provide a strong base to the prosecution in the court.
