IND vs AFG: Gurnoor Brar on the threshold of creating history, will Gambhir give one more chance?
Young fast bowler Gurnoor Brar has started his ODI international career in excellent style. Born in Muktsar, Punjab, Gurnoor made his international debut in the Dharamshala ODI against Afghanistan, in which he took 3 wickets for 27 runs. After this he also took 3 wickets in Lucknow. Now he is standing on the threshold of creating history. In fact, Gurnoor has become the second Indian bowler to take 3 or more wickets in his first two ODI matches. Before him, Piyush Chawla had accomplished this feat.
Leg spinner Piyush Chawla took 3 wickets each in his first three ODI matches. Gurnoor has a chance to match Chawla. It remains to be seen whether he gets a place in Team India’s playing XI in the third and last ODI against Afghanistan to be played in Chennai today (June 20) or not. The Indian team has taken a 2-0 lead in the series. In such a situation, Chennai ODI is a dead rubber. Team India is going to try a new combination.

Will Gurnoor be given rest?
Harshit Rana has entered Team India for Chennai ODI. Harshit, who was away from action for a long time due to knee surgery, is unlikely to be fielded right now. Nitish Kumar Reddy, who was out of the second ODI due to injury, is fit and will return to the playing XI. When Nitish comes back, one of the batsmen may have to sit out, because captain Shubman Gill will not want to go with five bowlers again.
Arshdeep Singh and Gurnoor Brar have played the first two matches of the series. On Wednesday, in the heat of Lucknow, Arshdeep bowled 9 overs, while Gurnoor bowled 7.3 overs. Today the weather is going to be hot in Chennai also. In such a situation, either one of the two can be given rest. There is a high possibility that Arshdeep will get rest. He is coming after playing the entire IPL season. The team management may give him rest to keep him fresh for the tour of Ireland and England. In his absence, Prasidh Krishna will lead the pace attack. Prasidh will get the support of Gurnoor and Prince Yadav.
