High definition cameras installed at about 50 places in Ludhiana

Ludhiana, In Ludhiana, two-wheeler drivers without helmets are no longer able to avoid the third eye. In the month of May itself, 10346 e-challans have been issued to two-wheeler drivers without helmets with the help of cameras, while the total number of challans is 23036. This number is only of e-challans issued by cameras installed at different places, whereas an even higher number of challans are issued by traffic police with the help of machines.

In early May, D.G.P. Gaurav Yadav formally launched the scheme after inaugurating it, while its trials were going on for the last several months. At different places, the e-challan launched with the help of AI based special cameras specifically covers traffic offenses like over speeding, without helmet, pillion riding, wrong side driving, red light jumping, zebra crossing violation, stop line violation, triple riding and wrong parking. In these traffic offences, the traffic police is issuing around 800 e-challans every day.
