‘India will become a superpower through sea power’: PM Modi handed over 3 indigenous warships to the Navy, announced self-reliant India
Kolkata. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday dedicated three state-of-the-art indigenous warships—INS Dunagiri, INS Samodhar and INS Agray—to the Indian Navy at the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Port in Kolkata. On this occasion, he said that the economic and strategic impact of a country whose maritime power is strong is equally impressive at the global level. India is moving rapidly in this direction and is emerging as a self-reliant naval power.
The country got a modern ship on World Hydrographic Day-
Prime Minister Modi said that World Hydrography Day is also celebrated on 21st June. In such a situation, it is a special coincidence that on this day, India’s most advanced hydro-survey ship INS Modhik has been inducted into the Navy.
He said that INS Agray, INS Dunagiri and INS Modihar are not just warships, but symbols of the technological capability, self-reliance and strategic strength of the new India.
‘No nation can become a superpower without maritime power’-
In his address, the Prime Minister said that the world is witness to the fact that no country can become a great power without maritime capability. The sea is the basis of development, security and prosperity. Today, most of the global trade takes place through sea routes and in the future, important mineral resources and sources of new energy will also be linked to the sea.
He said that India understands this changing global reality and is continuously strengthening its strength in the maritime domain.
The journey of self-reliance moved forward with INS Vikrant-
Prime Minister Modi said that a few years ago, the indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant was dedicated to the nation, which ushered in a new era of India’s maritime capability. Today INS Agray, Dunagiri and Modhik are giving new impetus to the same journey.
He said that the design, construction and technology of these three warships are completely Indian. The talent and hard work of Indian industries, engineers, technicians and workers are involved in their construction, which is the biggest strength of self-reliant India.
‘India now wants to be a producer and not just a buyer’-
The Prime Minister said that India does not want to remain a mere buyer in the defense sector. The country is now moving rapidly towards becoming a manufacturer of weapons and military equipment.
He said, “The day India becomes a complete manufacturer in defense production, it will also be able to play a decisive role at the global level.”
More than 40 Made in India warships join the Navy-
PM Modi said that in the last few years, more than 40 ‘Made in India’ warships and submarines have become part of the Indian Navy. Currently 45 large naval platforms are under construction, which is a testament to India’s industrial capability and growing self-reliance in the defense sector.
Maritime sector will become a big engine of employment-
The Prime Minister said that the maritime sector will create new employment opportunities for millions of youth in the coming years. Building a modern warship requires steel, electronics, machinery and thousands of spare parts, providing employment to a large number of industries and youth.
He said that India does not see the maritime sector as limited only to defense and trade, but is preparing it as a big employment engine for developed India.
