England Tour: Team India announced for ODI series, Jasprit Bumrah returns, injured Virat Kohli also in the squad
New Delhi. The Indian team for the three-match ODI series against England was announced on June 21 (Sunday). Former captain Virat Kohli has also been included in the 15-member team, who is not completely fit at present. Kohli’s availability is subject to fines clearance. That means they will be able to participate in this series only after passing the fitness test.
The biggest thing about the team selection is that fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has also returned to the ODI setup. Bumrah last played 50 overs cricket for the Indian team in the 2023 Cricket World Cup final. All-rounder Akshar Patel has also returned to the ODI team. Akshar was not a part of the team in the ODI series against Afghanistan.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, Prince Yadav and Harsh Dubey are also not part of the ODI team. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal had scored a brilliant 110* against Afghanistan in Chennai on Saturday (June 20). Now after Virat Kohli’s return, he has been dropped from the squad. Yashasvi was selected in the team for the ODI series against Afghanistan only when Kohli was injured.
Indian team for the ODI series against England: Shubman Gill (captain), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli* (subject to fitness clearance), Shreyas Iyer (vice-captain), KL Rahul (wicketkeeper), Ishan Kishan (wicketkeeper), Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh and Gurnoor Brar.
